Junior Gym Sessions

Our junior gym sessions offer 11-17 year olds the chance to enjoy the gym during dedicated time slots.

Juniors will have access to gym equipment including; bikes, treadmills, cross-trainers and rowers.

Session times:  Monday to Friday 15:00 - 17:00

Summer session times:  Monday to Friday 11:00 - 15:00

Junior Induction

To ensure the safety of all junior members, we provide a Junior Gym Induction led by a qualified fitness instructor who will show them how to properly use the equipment and perform exercises. All juniors must book this induction prior to their first Junior Gym and Adult and Junior Gym sessions.

Adult and Junior Gym

Our Adult and Junior gym sessions at Whiterock Leisure Centre offer a great opportunity for families to stay active and spend quality time together and encourage younger members to exercise. Focused on junior members aged between 11 - 17 and induction is required.  Adults are responsible for continuously supervising juniors during the entire duration of these sessions.

Monday - Friday 17:00 - 19:00

Saturday and Sunday 12:00 - 15:00

Cardio junior class

At Whiterock Leisure Centre we deliver a Cardio Junior class which is designed to boost cardiovascular health and take your fitness to the next level. Get ready to sweat as you work the cardiovascular machines, such as treadmills and rowing machines, and push yourself with high-intensity bodyweight exercises. Our junior fitness classes provide a great workout experience for young people aged 11 to 17. With structured exercise programs and a knowledgeable fitness instructor, these classes are designed to help you achieve your fitness goals, boost cardiovascular health and take your fitness to the next level.

You can easily book in advance through our app or online. Get ready to sweat, challenge yourself, and make fitness a blast!

Junior membership

Start your child's fitness journey with a Better Health Junior Membership for as little as £13 per month.

Available for juniors under 18 years old, this membership will give access to junior fitness classes, junior gym, swimming, and racquet sports in all of our Better Belfast leisure centres.

Please note 16 and 17 year olds wanting full gym and class access would need to take out the appropriate student or adult membership.

Better Junior Gym Membership

Can parents/guardians accompany their children to a junior gym?

Of course! Our junior gym sessions create a space for 11-17 years olds to workout, but adults are welcome to use the gym as well during or join of our dedicated adult and junior gym slots.

How do I sign my child up?

You can sign up for a Junior membership online or by visiting your local centre. To join on your child’s behalf, you’ll just need to put in their details to make sure the membership is in their name.

Can my child book classes for themselves?

Once you have the membership set up, your child can book classes easily on our website or via the Better UK app – they’ll just need to log in with their membership details.

What age are Junior Gym sessions for?

Our Junior Gym sessions are for kids aged 11 to 17.

How do I amend/cancel my child’s membership?

Like our other monthly memberships, there’s no contract for our Better Health Junior membership so it’s easy to change or amend your membership if you need to. Take a look at our Help Centre for more information.

How can I prepare my child for their first Junior Gym session?

To help your child prepare to use the gym make sure to book a free induction – this is mandatory for under 18s using the gym and will help them learn how to use the equipment safely.

When it comes to their first session, make sure they’re wearing suitable clothing and shoes, and that they take a towel and water bottle with them to use during their session.
