Parkside Pools and Gym in Cambridge have been designated a Warm Spaces by GLL, the not-for-profit charitable social enterprise that operates the sites on behalf of Cambridge City Council.

The initiative has been set up in response to this winter’s cost of living crisis and will offer anyone living in the vicinity of a participating leisure centre a warm welcome, comfortable seating, the opportunity to charge a phone or device and use the free WiFi. In addition, leading wholesale food service company Brakes, has agreed to donate free tea, coffee and biscuits.

The Warm Space will be open to all, both leisure centre members and non-members alike from the 25th November. The Warm Spaces scheme will be running Monday to Friday from 9am - 4pm.

Our Warm Spaces, Warm Welcomes sessions are part of a broader community effort to provide accessible, comforting spaces where people can gather, especially during the colder months. Whether you're someone looking for a quiet moment to enjoy a cup of tea, a parent needing a breather while the kids enjoy other activities at the centre, or simply a resident hoping to meet new people, the sessions have something to offer you.

Leisure centres are ideally suited to serve as warm spaces, they are easily accessible, known to everyone and a natural meeting place. Staff will be on hand to offer a warm welcome to anyone wishing to make the most of our warm space during the Winter months ahead.
