Free Swimming for over 60's

Looking to stay active and meet new people? Our exclusive 60+ lane-swimming sessions funded by the Welsh Assembly Government are just what you need! These sessions offer a more relaxed pace, allowing you to enjoy a refreshing swim while connecting with like-minded swimmers. So why not take the plunge and discover the benefits of staying fit and making new friends.

Every Monday 10.30am - 11.30am.

To register for a free swimming card please call into our freindly centre with proof of age which can be a passport or bus pass and we will sign you up hassle free.

Nordic Walking 50+

Nordic Walking is our outdoor group activity for 50+ led by our motivating fitness instructor Mark. This session is supported by Sport Cardiff and Sport Wales under the Active Leisure Scheme.

Nordic Walking combines the simplicity of walking with core and upper body conditioning.This gives you a great full body workout.

Every Friday 11.00am - 12.30

We provide the walking poles or bring your own and then it's just a case of book and give it a go, we are sure that you will be hooked.

Active Leisure Scheme for 50+

Whether you're a beginner, expert or simply returning to fitness after a break, we've got you covered with our range of 50+ activities supported by Sport Cardiff and Sport Wales.

Our Active Leisure Scheme offers discounted fitness classes designed for a wide range of individuals, including those referred by the GP referral team at Maindy Centre.

You can choose from a variety of classes, such as 50+ Pilates with Mel, 50+ Tai Chi with Wayne and even our gym floor 50+ Strength class.

Free Swimming in Wales for the Armed Forces

Maindy Centre is proud to be able to offer this Welsh Government supported scheme that enables serving members of the armed forces and veterans to swim for free during public swimming times.

To register for a booking card please visit our freindly staff who will sign you up hassle free. Don't forget to bring your defence privilege card with you as proof of eligibility.

The armed forces free swimming scheme (AFFS) was first introduced in 2016 and represents the continued commitment to provide the armed forces community with access to services which meet their specific needs and recognise the service they have given to their country.

 

Keep up with your Grandchildren in the Water

Sometimes as life passes by there are skills that we wished we had learnt earlier in life. At Maindy Centre we can help you keep up with your grandchildren now that they are asking to go swimming with you or you have a family holiday planned where being in the water will be a daily activity.
