The Whitehaven Sports Centre has sessions designed for our junior members, those aged 11-17 years.
These will encourage them to get active, moving, and having fun while helping them learn about and enjoy fitness from a young age.
For the first gym session or fitness class, please wear suitable clothing, any long hair is tied back, and bring a water bottle and a small towel.
We encourage juniors to get into the gym and start looking after their bodies, and gym workouts boost energy, increase lean muscle mass, improves mood and enables you to live longer.
From 14 years, provided the junior member has had an induction, they are able to come train unsupervised with their friends.

Junior members are able to attend the gym from 11 years, as long as they attend alongside and are supervised by an adult and have had an induction.
For the moment this fitness class is only avaliable during school holidays. This class is for our junior members that are wanting to get more into the gym or don’t know some things and want to be guided into the right direction to maximise their usage and get the best bang for their buck in our facilities.
All junior members need to attend a free induction once they first join, and then every year after in order to use our facilities (this is outlined in the membership T&C).
A junior induction is for our younger members who are wanting know how to use some of our equipment and become more familiar with what we offer in centre, one of our Fitness Instructors will talk through the rules and what equipment can be used safely at what ages.
