Senior Activities

Swiss Cottage Leisure Centre boasts an extensive senior activities programme, with sessions to suit all. Not only is our senior programme designed to enhance physical and mental wellbeing, but it also offers the ideal social environment to relax and chat with friends before, during and after activities. Check out our Timetable at the bottom of this page!

SENIOR SPORTS HALL SESSION

Our senior sports hall session offers our customers an opportunity to play a range of sports including Badminton, short tennis, Pickleball, and Table Tennis. These sessions are also supported by a member of our team to give you guidance in your chosen activity.

There will be refreshments and board games available throughout these sessions. 

To book into this session click on the Seniors' Club Session on the BETTER UK App, website or by visting our centre team at Swiss Cottage Leisure Centre reception. Sessions run every Monday 13:00 - 15:00 and Thursday 12:00 - 14:00

FREE SWIMMING FOR OVER 60's

Did you know if you are a Camden Resident over the age of 60 and have a concessionary membership you can swim for free between 7am - 12noon Monday to Friday. 

This also applies to any of the swimming pools that we operate in the Borough!

WALKING FOOTBALL

Are you aged 50 or over and enjoy the beautiful game of football? Walking football could be for you. 

At a number of our Better leisure centres, you'll be able to sign up for walking football and enjoy a weekly game, meet new people and have a chat over tea and coffee.

Whether you're completely new to the game or played football when you were younger, walking football will add a new lease of life to your week. 

Our weekly Walking Football sessions run every Sunday from 11:00-13:00.These sessions are suitable for those looking for a lower impact activity and to meet new friends.

What are the benefits of walking football?

  • Keeps you active - as the name suggests, you're constantly moving as well as having fun
  • Improves stamina - participating in weekly activity means you can keep going for longer
  • Healthier heart - activity lowers your cholesterol, blood pressure and blood sugar and decreases risks of diabetes type 2
  • Better balance - you'll find working on one leg, kicking the ball will help with your balance
  • Meet new friends -  get to know your community and build a camaraderie with people from a number of different backgrounds

FITNESS CLASSES

We have a jam packed fitness class programme which caterers for all fitness levels. Classes such as Aqua Aerobics, Pilates, and Yoga. 

Aqua Aerobics - is a form of gentle exercise done in water. These classes are suitable for everyone - regardless of age or ability - combining aqua aerobic exercises with strength and conditioning moves to give you a full body workout.

Pilates - Gently train your physique and improve core strength in a calming, low-intensity atmosphere. Pilates focuses on concentration and muscle control, transitioning smoothly between one another to build a revived and resilient you.

Yoga - Embrace the flow of natural body movements to develop strength, flexibility and a peaceful state of mind. From energetic routines to slow, serene sequences, Yoga classes balance movement and meditation to help you feel Better inside and out.

GYM SESSIONS

In a relaxed and enjoyable group setting, you'll enjoy the gym facilities and have the chance to engage with our Fitness Instructors, who will be there to give demonstrations, advice on techniques and explanations of the benefits of different machines and exercises. So if you've always wanted to go to the gym - this is the perfect session for you!
