Squash

At Walthamstow Leisure Centre we are proud to boast that we are the only Better Centre in Waltham Forest that offers squash facilities. We have two squash courts available to book and a core group of dedicated players that would be happy arrange a game if you're worried about the lack of a partner. 

Our Sessions are based on 2 players. Any further players will need to pay the additional £2.25 entry fee on arrival at the centre. Unless they have a membership.

Due to Squash Court Refurbishment. Centre will enforcing the following rule with Squash Shoes. 

- Must be non-marking (No Black Soles)

- White soles only 

- Not Outside shoes 

Customer found wearing shoes that could damage the new flooring will be asked to leave the courts by the Duty Management Team

Why Play Squash?

Squash is an excellent game for thoroughly exercising your body. It engages your heart, lungs, and all the major muscle groups, leading to improved cardiovascular fitness, muscular flexibility, and endurance. Additionally, squash promotes the development of hand-eye and body coordination through the actions of following and striking the ball. It also enhances mental sharpness and concentration. When paired with healthy habits like maintaining a balanced diet and a regular fitness routine, squash is the perfect activity to help burn calories and boost overall well-being.

Who Can Play Squash?

Anyone can play squash, all you need to play is a racket, a ball and little bit of determination! We encourage beginners and veterans alike to grab their rackets and jump on the court. Your goal is to simply keep the ball within the confines of the marked boundaries of the court.

Practice makes perfect and the more you play, the better you will get, but for those who want a bit of assistance taking their game to the next level there are coaches available to be contacted for private sessions. A coach will be able to help in holding the racket properly, shot techniques, movement and match tactics.

What We Offer

Here at Walthamstow Leisure Centre we offer a range of activities to suit everybody from beginners to club level players.

League: We have a thriving squash league open to men and women.

Woman's Group: Open to women who want to play other women in an informal setting. 

Club Nights: Evening sessions for those who want to meet other squash players and play games in an informal setting. We are also planning weekend day sessions for those who cannot play on weekday evenings. We are open to any other suggestions.

Equipment Hire: Don't let lack of equipment stop you! There is racket hire available at reception as well as squash balls for sale that you can buy and keep.
