Healthwise is a healthy lifestyle programme, run in partnership with Reading Council.

Designed to introduce individuals to the benefits of exercise and support those wishing to lose weight, manage health conditions or reduce risk factors for chronic disease.

Better’s firm belief that physical activity at appropriate levels can have a beneficial effect upon the health of an individual underpins our commitment to the provision of a GP referral programme across our leisure centres.

The scheme is for Reading residents, registered with a Reading GP doctors surgery / hospital department. It is designed to assist people with medical conditions or other specialist requirements.

Our team of Healthwise advisors will work with you to offer the most appropriate programme for your individual health needs.

Common reasons for referral include –

• High blood pressure
• Diabetes
• Asthma
• Circulatory / respiratory diseases
• Depression and anxiety
• Arthritis
• Weight Management

If you are interested, please speak to your GP, practice nurse or surgery and ask them to refer you onto the Healthwise scheme. If your GP / surgery isn’t registered, the Healthwise team can be contacted on Healthwise.Reading@GLL.ORG
