Pay and Ride - MTB

Price: £7  |  Family £22 (four people, maximum two adults) 
Equipment hire: Bike with helmet - adult £13 / junior (under 18) £9 

These mountain biking sessions are great if you want to experience the freedom of our mountain bike trails. The trails can be used with either your own bike or by hiring a venue bike.

Please note during sessions the whole circuit may not be open due to private hire, grounds maintenance or when the venue is closed. During the winter months the trails may open slightly later to allow any frost or ice to melt. Hired equipment must be returned before sunset. Please contact the venue before your visit.

MTB Skills

Session length: 90 minutes 
Price: £12 
Age: 10+ years 
Minimum height: 135cm / 4ft 5ins
Equipment hire: Gloves £4  |  Bike with helmet - adult £13 / junior (under 18) £9 

This coached session teaches intermediate mountain biking techniques required for safe, smooth and enjoyable trail riding, including: 

  • Effective cornering on both berms and flat corners 
  • Pumping over rollers
  • Safely negotiating step-ups and drop-offs 
  • Utilising bunny hops or front and rear wheel lifts in order to clear obstacles

Mountain Biking FAQs

How can I experience the mountain bike trails?

  • Skills sessions and pay and ride sessions will allow you to tackle these mountain bike trails which stretch around Lee Valley VeloPark.

What should I wear?

  • For mountain bike riding it is mandatory to wear a cycling helmet. We recommend the following:
    • Pads, gloves, cycling glasses. Legs, upper body and arms should be fully covered at all times.
    • Two layers of clothing (preferably close fitting) on your upper body.

Can I cycle when pregnant?

  • Cycling while pregnant is only permitted on the outside road circuit for health and safety reasons. Cycling carries inherent risks, you should be aware of and accept these risks and are fully responsible for your involvement in this cycling discipline. You must always ride within your own limits and after consultation with your health care professional.

Essential information

  • Always check for any last-minute closures to the trails that may affect your visit.
  • Pay and Ride sessions can be paid for on the day or pre-booked up to 7 days in advance (subject to availability).
  • Family Pay and Ride sessions must be booked via Reception.
  • Self-Pedal Session - MTB are only bookable online with a voucher.
  • Bookings close 24 hours before the session start time.
  • Helmets are mandatory for all riders.
  • Only purpose-built mountain bikes may be used on the mountain bike trails.
  • A top must be always worn when cycling at the venue. 
  • Wearing cycling gloves is strongly recommended (available for hire).
  • Headphones, earphones, or earpieces are not permitted while cycling.
  • Your activity band must be always attached to your helmet or handlebars and visible. 
  • Please arrive at least 30 minutes before your coached session starts.
  • Riders must be capable of cycling without stabilisers to use the mountain bike trails.
  • Children aged 11 and under must be accompanied by one parent/guardian per two children.
  • Children aged 12 and over do not require supervision but it is recommended.
  • Under-18s must bring a signed Parental/Guardian Consent Form to participate in sessions.
  • For coached sessions, a parent/guardian must remain in the designated area during the safety briefing or follow meeting instructions given.
  • Taster sessions include bike and helmet hire. Other sessions do not include equipment unless specified.
  • Equipment (bike/helmet) can be hired from the venue with personal ID and proof of address (utility, bank, or other statements less than 3 months old).
  • Helmets and safety equipment must be worn while cycling on any of the four circuits at Lee Valley VeloPark. Helmets must meet UK safety standard BS EN 1078:1997 if you bring your own.
  • Cycling and other activities at Lee Valley VeloPark carry inherent risks—you must be aware of and accept these risks.
  • If you are unsure about your ability to participate, or have any questions about terms, conditions, or safety declarations, ask a staff member before booking.
